I obtained my PhD at the University of Genoa, Italy, working on a research project on foreign fighters' participation in civil wars.
My research has been published in Mediterranean Politics, Media, War & Conflict, Small Wars & Insurgencies, Civil Wars, Studies in Conflict & Terrorism, Italian Political Science Review, Comparative European Politics, and Quaderni di Scienza Politica. I am interested in a wide range of topics concerning non-state armed groups and civil wars, such as the dynamics of cooperation and conflict among rebel groups, rebel governance, and rebel diplomacy.
Currently, I am a "Roberto Ruffilli" Post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Bologna, working on a project on the origins and dynamics of rebel governance in the Italian Civil War.
I am also a Courtesy Assistant Teaching Professor at Florida International University, Adjunct Lecturer at Sciences Po—Menton, and Adjunct Professor at the University of Genoa (Democratization in the Global World). Moreover, I am a Fellow at Civil War Paths at the University of York.
I have been a Visiting Researcher at the Centre for the Comparative Study of Civil War at the University of York, United Kingdom.
